2026 Summer Staff Opportunities 
 
The Kennebecasis Paddling Centre (KPC) is now accepting applications for summer coaching staff. The KPC, a member of the Atlantic Division of Canoe Kayak Canada, began as the canoe-kayak division of the Kennebecasis Rowing and Canoe Club. The club was founded in 1982, in Rothesay, NB, to provide aquatic sports opportunities to local youth. The KPC offers both recreational and competitive programs and has developed athletes who have competed on national and international stages. 
The 2026 season of programs will run from late June to the end of August. 
 
Position available include, but are not limited to: 
● Assistant coaches – competitive programs. 
● Assistant coaches – recreational programs. 
● Shadow coaches (positions are volunteer and generally offered to younger athletes interested in future coaching positions) 
 
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate: 
● Experience working with and supervising children and youth (ages 8-15). 
● Commitment to providing a safe, diverse, encouraging, and fun atmosphere for all paddlers and athletes. 
● Leadership skills and ability to present themselves as strong role models for all paddlers and athletes. 
● Creativity in developing and implementing engaging programming for paddlers. 
● Ability to work and perform in a team environment. 
● Proof of or willingness to acquire, necessary licenses and coaching certifications commensurate with position (see below). 
● Preference will be given to applicants with experience with water sports, particularly in sprint canoe and kayak. 
● Applicants will be assessed in the competency categories of adaptability, collaboration, communication, creativity/innovation, numeracy, problem solving, and technical/digital skills.
 
Successful coaches for all water activities should be able to demonstrate proof of, or willingness to acquire at their own cost, the following certifications: 
● Certified ELCC or Canoe Kids Certification (wage increase if completed) 
● New Brunswick Pleasure Craft Operator Certification 
● Standard First Aid & Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification

Prior to programming start, successful applicants must: 
● Provide a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Prior by start date (fee to be reimbursed by the KPC) 
● Complete the Safe Sport Training course, which is a 30-40 minute free module through coach.ca
