Call for Board Members – Kennebecasis Paddling Centre

Dear Community Members and Supporters,
The Kennebecasis Paddling Centre (KPC) is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to serve on our Board of Directors. As a growing organization committed to both community recreation and highperformance paddling, we rely on strong governance, diverse perspectives, and dedicated volunteers to support our mission.

Due to proposed updates to our governance structure, all Board positions will be re-appointed at the upcoming Annual General Meeting, scheduled for Monday, November 9, 2026. We welcome interest from alumni of the KPC, parents of current paddlers, and anyone in the community who cares about community sport, enjoys helping organizations grow, and is willing to lend their experience to support a safe, wellrun, and welcoming paddling environment. In addition to individuals suited for the ExOfficio roles, we are particularly interested in adding expertise in legal, financial, insurance, and watersafety matters to the Board.

With the 2029 Canada Games being hosted locally, this is an exciting time to join the Board. Strong leadership now will help ensure that KPC is wellpositioned to modernize, expand, and play a meaningful role in supporting the region’s sport community.

​Elected Positions
• Commodore – Provides overall leadership, chairs Board meetings, and helps guide KPCs direction.
• Vice Commodore – Supports the Commodore and steps in when needed.
• Treasurer – Oversees KPC finances, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Secretary – Keeps meeting records organized and supports Board administration.
• Members at Large (3 positions) – General Board members who help with projects, committees, and decisionmaking.

ExOfficio Positions (Appointed by the elected directors after the AGM)
• Development Officer – Helps coordinate fundraising and sponsorship.
• Communications Officer – Supports member communication, promotions, and social media.
• Facilities Officer – Helps oversee equipment, safety boats, and facility upkeep.
• Technical Director – Advises on competition rules, sport standards, and event operations.
• Safety Officer – Helps ensure programs follow paddling safety standards and best practices.

If you or someone you know may be interested, please submit a brief expression of interest outlining your background and why you would like to contribute to the Kennebecasis Paddling Centre to [email protected]by Friday, October 23, 2026. The Nominating Committee will review submissions and follow up with prospective candidates. Nominations may also be made at the AGM.
